About the Opportunity

Kingsley College now has a new and exciting opportunity for a Secondary Visual Arts Teacher to join our team in Rockhampton, QLD, full-time.

As our Visual Arts Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching students from Grade 7 to Grade 12, both in the classroom and through distance education.

You will be able to build rapport and connection with your students and bring complex concepts to life in an engaging way.

When you join our school team, you will be part of a collaborative and connected unit of educators, and you will have the option to help run any extra-curriculars that may interest you.

As our school's Secondary Visual Arts Teacher, you will teach secondary and ATAR classes, and your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Planning and teaching engaging classes to curriculum;
  • Evaluating and assessing children's progress and reporting to parents verbally and in writing;
  • Attending staff meetings, parent/teacher meetings, interviews, worship and staff devotions; and
  • Submitting classroom budgetary requests to the Principal when required.

About You

As our newest Secondary Visual Arts Teacher, you will be passionate about educating young people and have some experience in teaching Visual Arts, preferably including ATAR-level art classes. We will also consider graduates who have experience with visual arts.

You will have:

  • A minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent
  • Queensland Teacher’s Registration, or the ability to obtain
  • High-level communication skills with staff, students, and families
  • Strong digital literacy 

Able to build rapport well, you will be passionate about engaging with students on an individual level, both in-person and virtually.

You will have the ability to implement the school’s Christian values and philosophy in the classroom and other aspects of College life to foster faith and deliver positive educational outcomes for students.

You will be comfortable serving students from a range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds; high achievers, and those with learning difficulties. You will also be able to adapt your approach to each student's needs and explain concepts in a way they will understand.
