About the Opportunities

Music and Visual Arts are universal languages that bring people together. Both disciplines help us make sense of the world around us and engage and communicate our emotions and creativity.

We now have a rewarding opportunity for Secondary Teachers in Visual Arts and Music to join our cohort of teachers in January 2022. In this creative and formative opportunity, you will oversee and provide education to students in both face-to-face and distance education programs.

Reporting to the School Principal, you will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Effectively organising your classes and maintaining quality care and discipline of students;
  • Maintaining a high standard of work amongst students;
  • Evaluating and assessing children's progress and reporting to parents verbally and in writing;
  • Planning, preparing and teaching the curriculum to various classes to appropriate standards;
  • Involving parents in the school program;
  • Attending staff meetings, parent/teacher meetings, interviews, worship and staff devotions;
  • Attending In-service Courses and Out-of-Hours School Functions as required by the College;
  • Carrying out playground duties as rostered and reporting areas of maintenance needs to the office; and
  • Submitting classroom budgetary requests to the Principal when required.

About You

You will be a qualified Teacher with QLD Teacher Registration (or ability to obtain) and the capacity to implement the school's Christian values and philosophy in the classroom and other aspects of College life while fostering faith and delivering significant educational outcomes for students in Visual Arts and Music.

To succeed in this role, you will also be able to utilise various teaching resources to plan and deliver Visual Arts and Music study units using a range of technologies and mediums.

Most importantly, you will be a passionate individual dedicated to inspiring students in the areas of Music and Visual Arts.

At Kingsley College, we provide education to students from high and low socio-economic backgrounds, diverse cultural backgrounds, and different learning levels. You will be a strong communicator who can effectively engage and build relationships with parents, senior management and staff members.

A requirement of this role is that applicants' religious beliefs and values align with our organisation.

About the Benefits

You will have an incredible opportunity to join a school dedicated to creating sustainable careers and workplaces.

We understand the pressures and expectations set on teachers and make a concerted effort to streamline processes to ensure you can focus on what is most important – providing a teaching environment for students to foster their creative and artistic skills.

You will receive an attractive base salary circa $75,470 – $128,149 plus super and holiday loading, commensurate with your experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance is also on offer!

All teachers at Kingsley College enjoy two weeks of paid development. This time will allow you to focus on your personal and professional growth. You will also enjoy ongoing opportunities for training and further education with all expenses paid by the College.

Due to the smaller size of the College, you will benefit from an agile and adaptive workplace where you'll be encouraged to introduce innovative curriculum strategies.

Most importantly, this is a genuinely rewarding career making a difference in the lives of children and families and helping to close the gap in Indigenous education
